The guitars seemed thin and there wasn't an oomf that made the music heavy. Both Macabre and Kisou seemed to have a really amateurish approach to heavy guitar sound that they were going for. There was more emotion in them without the typical visual kei overdramatic 'moans'.īut to me the biggest change to me was the production of the albums.

He sounded more clear and his highs had very nice tone to them. While Kyo sounds great in both of these albums, Vulgar is clearly the album that he began to really push himself. Instead it was raw rock and roll while still having the signature style of the band.

There wasn't that much polyphony as the earlier albums nor weird time signatures of the later albums.

Unlike the earlier albums like Gauze, and the later albums like Uroboros, these albums were much simpler in terms of technique, composition, and song structure. In my opinion these were the punk albums in Dir en grey's discography.
